Welcome to my new website! For my virgin post I wanted to tell you a bit about why I am starting this blog. To share all things textile and travel.
First, I will let you in on things that I will never turn down. A glass of wine, a trip to someplace new or a fresh picked bouquet of cut flowers. Wine creates the relaxation, travel allows me to connect with new cultures and textiles and flowers...well they always make things pretty.
My ideal travel is a great apartment in a city with a farmers market near by. Picnics for lunch, some great eats for dinner (Of course those flowers are always on the table or close by.) and a plan for the day with a possible adventure off the path.
Those adventures normally lead me to my passion, Textiles with a capital T. Textiles old, new, small, large, expensive or not. Textiles make me smile and add a skip to my step. I imagine wrapping myself up in textiles thinking of their production, inspirations and where they may have traveled. I think of where they could be used and how. My imagination goes wild. If you can show me the mill where that textile was produced or the drawings behind the images, well now I have found textile nirvana!
So back to the reason I am starting this blog. I am looking for skipping textile lovers to read my posts as I travel and find new textiles and the inspirations behind them. Some adventures will be at my back door, but others will take me across the pond. I hope to give a smile to your day and send a ray of creativity your way.
I promise to be lighthearted as I post. I may also have that glass of wine beside me as I write. I will try to share the gritty details of textiles and include those crazy stories of what lead to the adventure. May you find this amusing and informative. Most of all I hope that come along for the ride.
I thank you for reading this post and look forward to next week's topic-orange trees and concrete blocks. How do these things relate to a textile line recently re-released?
